| Poets.
Poems. Meter. Rhymes. Prose. Spoken Word. The Iliad, Shakespeare,
Homer, The Odyssey, Romanticism, Greek epic poems, satire... most relate to poetry in one way. And
they were all well and done, made to move people in one way or another.
They put thoughts into people's minds in their own respectable eras,
whether they are about the pleasantries that life can give, or if they
induce revolutionary type thinking within the person.
In order
to hear about them, you either had to listen to them through word of
mouth through a storyteller, or read it in a book if you were fortunate
enough to know how to read. They were epic poems, that changed the
world as we know it. Words were left behind for centuries upon
centuries, as is seen with Greek literature, English poetry, and other
sources of spoken word. These words were remembered.
The
availability of these poems were done through large and special events.
With Shakespeare, he had grandiose plays, and with Greek literature the
poems were often done through song or sing-song meters in order to
remember everything... because these songs were quite literally, epic.
Not everyone was a poet; not everyone had the ability to be remembered.
There is a reason why the classical
poets were remembered - because they challenged or connected with the
normal thought process of the everyday person.
Poets.
Poems. Meter. Rhymes. Prose. Spoken Word. Drums, Hip-Hop, Common, Mos
Def, Dead Prez, The Roots, Talib Kweli, Epic Hip-Hop songs, Satire...
most relate to rap songs in one way. And they were all made well and
done in good nature, made to move people in one way or another. They
put thoughts into people's minds in their own respectable opinions,
whether it is about the pleasantries that life can give, or they can
induce revolutionary type thinking within the person.
However,
in order to hear about them, all you have to do is "Right Click, Save
As..." No need for a storyteller to pass on these folks' words.
Although these people have epic raps that can change the youth of our
world as we know it, it is being diluted. Words will be spoken on deaf
ears for decades to come, because of the saturation of every Lil'
Weezy, Bow Wow, Young Joc, Lil' Jon, and any other person that wants to
milk the industry for money.
Hopefully, though, the words of
the real poets are able to survive and be remembered. Just because the
availability of these raps are available to literally everyone globally
doesn't mean they aren't epic... With original rap we had the 1970s and
80s... with grandiose bboying moves, DJs, tagged up walls and trains,
and many-a-party rocked. Only difference now, however, is that everyone
in this era is now a poet. The music industry is being saturated with
beyond mediocre music that won't be rememberd for 3 months, let alone
decades. There is a reason why the
poets of hip-hop will be remembered - because they challenged or
connected with the normal thought process of the everyday person. | | |
| I have no sense of accomplishment. That's exactly what I'm missing in my life. I figured it out, and I try to strive everyday by desperately seeking out a sense of accomplishment.

| 4 Years PLUS... since I started zanga. Still going strong if you ask me.
I like staying up late. Hmm.... I can push my sleeping limitations to the... well, limit. The limit is when I pass out when I don't want to. My room is blue now. Pretty cool. I like how my bed is positioned diagonally in the room. Something different heh.
I got a job now, and it is fun because people actually listen to what I'm saying... as opposed to just listening. I recently found out not everyone has secondary intentions for everything, but alot do. Some people are actually genuine, and it is kind of hard to evaluate that at first.
I really enjoy concerts. I feel motivated when I go to them. OH if anyone wants to go to a concert on August 3rd hit me up on my cell phone or AIM. It's in Philly and it should be a blast. I especially love live concerts with live music as opposed to premade music.
I did decent in the last game of basketball tonight. I had this one awesome layup... just straight down the lane even with the big man in the middle. Just went in from the top of the key real fast, and then I like.. jumped up, chilled in the air, brought it to my left and layed it in. Hehe. Everyone was like "WTF?... Did that just happen?" lol. I tried to be modest about it. And then I had a block on a big shot hehe like straight up in their face block. I think it had something to do with cutting my knee on another crazy attempt at a save. lol. I realized I can go faster then what I was going at. Maybe I might go for a run to increase my speed.... omg I need to start studying again. GG.
I miss some friends of mine. Wonder where they went. =/ Getting kinda late to rekindle lost relationships??? Or what? Hmm that's beat. I just want to chill with no active thinking... just chill and not think about "omg... i have to do something to be entertaining." Yeah that shit is homo. If it really mattered to them I think they would attempt some form of contact. I'm sure you're thinking "WTF you asshole." So yeah, I'm sure you think that if it mattered to me I would attempt some form of contact with you too, eh? Well I'm just seeing what friends I got and how important any of this is. Just a test if you can imagine that.
I wanna see The Roots live again. lol omg so good.
Dayum I wanna move to somewhere. Philadelphia was tons of fun. I wanna go to somewhere.... like... maybe Chicago, or Baltimore, or Denver (cold I imagine!), or even anything in California. Mmmm... wish I could go.
I don't trust many people... do I? I suppose not since I'm typing this in a zanga instead of talking about it with someone heh. I guess I do have insecurity issues. Sucks...
A girlfriend? Nah I don't think I can find anyone really. It's like, mad hard to find anyone who you even get along with, not even mentioning you're on the same wavelength. What is love to be completely honest? I don't see a reason for doing things for someone else unless... you understand where that person is coming from and you understand that person fully. I don't think anyone will understand me to be honest. I'm rather introverted... is that the right term? That sounds good. Heh.
It's mad weird for girls to have any guys friends, because to be honest all guys wanna do is fuck ya. Like.. no joke. If you have a guy friend that is nice to you (and you know it isn't genuine) then well you can assume he wants you. Pretty much sums up all guy / girl relationships that isn't a couple.
So yeah I think I'm gonna go now. The sun is almost up (OOPS LAWL). YERP my bad lol. Was nice chatting with you foooooools.
Peace.

| I wish people didn't get so upset at little things.
Just because I kind of forget to mow the lawn, then it starts raining, doesn't justify you reason to get angry. I mean, there is no reason for anyone to get worked up.. I don't know.
And...apparently I have a job. I don't think I'm mentally prepared for a job... ever. I guess I'm slow with recovering from events. I have to analyze everything before I feel prepared to advance in life.
I think I'm still suffering from depression.
